Easter is Spring in the Northern Hemisphere but here in Australia Easter is the beginning of Autumn. Although Rabbits are not allowed in Queensland they can still be an issue for farmers out west. For us city dwellers the issues are mostly mice and the odd rat… Because the temperatures are finally starting to drop many pest species slow down their breeding cycles… But not Rodents! There are a few things you can do to make your home less hospitable for a mouse or rat looking for a nice cosy place to start a family.
- Remove all food sources (keep pantry items in sealed containers, don’t leave pet food out over night, pick up excess fruit from and use a sealed composting system)
- Remove water sources (pet water bowls should not be left out overnight, pot plants should have their saucer emptied and any other dripping taps etc fixed.
- Remove all clutter and rubbish and leaf litter etc to minimise nesting material and harborages.
- Remove all food sources (keep pantry items in sealed containers, don’t leave pet food out over night, pick up excess fruit from and use a sealed composting system)
By removing Food, Water and Shelter you will minimise issues in and around your home. If you still find an unwanted guest sets up home at your place give us a call for treatment costs.
